Lake Front Community attracts overseas bidders

Saturday May 24th saw Thompson Carr Auctions at a lakeside venue selling lake front lots to the highest bidder. Thompson Carr Auctions, who were announced as the largest Auction Company in East Tennessee a few weeks ago seem to have captured the market for auctions channeled towards international buyers. In the current Real Estate climate finding bidders from overseas is important for the sellers of Real Estate. Dale Carr one half of the Thompson Carr team stated after the auction on Saturday, "In the current market we have to expland our ideas and sphere of influence to include new ideas for getting the word out about our auctions. Overseas buyers are a particularly untapped market and Europeans, especially with the exchange rate, are excited about buying property for vacations, second homes, investment or retirement spots." Thompson Carr are moving away from traditional advertising for auctions and moving towards holding auctions online and marketing to a broader spectrum of the public through internet advertsing.
Saturday's auction saw bidders from as far away as Florida and Arizona and Great Britain and Spain. An auction needs to satisfy both buyers and sellers, Thompson Carr Auctions appears to have found that happy balance. Location is everything in Real Estate and Thompson Carr certainly have the perfect location being minutes, literally, from the second most visited National Park in The States makes Sevier County and The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and investors dream.

Sevierville Auction House another Absolute Auction Success!

Amid torrential rain and gail force winds Thompson Carr had a great turn out for their Auction of property on Flat Creek Road in Sevierville. Buyers turned out despite the stormy weather to bid on Billy and April Jones' homes at Absolute Auction. Investors looking for bargains were out in full force knowing that this is the market they like to buy property in. The nationwide housing slump seems to have effected all parts of the country except the Sevier County residential, land & commercial marketplace. Auctioneers Todd Thompson and Dale Carr of Thompson Carr Auctions commented Friday after another successful Absolute Auction; "Our auctions don't seem to have been negatively effected, in fact the reverse is often the case. We are booking more Auctions and increasing sales, the slump appears to bringing out more bargain hunters for the housing market". As with any down market including this one when prices are down that seems to be the time to buy. Thompson and Carr also commented they are using new and innovative ways to get news of their Auctions out to the general public. "We are adjusting budgets to reflect internet buyers and international buyers". This week sees the launch of their new look website which they hope will draw even more clients from across the country and Europe.

International Buyer's Come to Sevier County

International Buyer's look towards investment deals in Sevier County. Thompson Carr looked into broadening our horizons for our Auction Clients by bringing in Buyer's from overseas. This week alone we had a couple fly in from the UK to review their options regarding buying Real Estate in this down market. Derek and Sheila Smith from Welshpool Great Britain already own land in Sevierville, on Douglas Lake and are very pleased with the investment. "130% increase in 2 years is a good investment" the Smiths said. "We are looking into buying a vacation home soon" they commented "We can buy a cabin or lot for a fraction of the price we would have to pay back home and actually get some acreage with it". Dale Carr from Thompson Carr Auctions said "We are seeing a big increase in overseas investors, especially from the UK. the current exchange rate is a boom for the Brits and means they can buy a piece of investment Real Estate or a second home in a beautiful part of the Smoky Mountains for 50% of what they would have paid 2 years ago.
